The proprietary shape of the cane is similar to the RDG-1 or Rigotti #1 shape. Each reed is tied with triple twist ff nylon onto Charles Pro brass staples. There is never any wire, never any fishskin: no leaks – guaranteed. More responsive attacks Refined tone without extended break-in period Longer lasting stability Less need for adjustment Brian Charles studied reed making with Harold Gomberg at the Juilliard School. His private reed making lessons with Ronald Roseman, Merrill Greenberg, and Henry Schumann also inform his style. He has spent many years adjusting and refining his reed making style and has combined his Tabuteau and Gomberg tradition with the classic American style scrape, a modified “V-shaped tip, ample heart, strong spine and well-defined windows. He has been making double reeds professionally for over 35 years.
